Volunteer
Dear Volunteer Applicant,
Thank you for inquiring about volunteer opportunities at the Therapeutic Riding Center South Jersey. Please click here to download the volunteer information and forms, which are required to be completed by each person in order to activate the volunteer process.
Our mission is to provide a horseback riding and driving experience, adapted to the specific needs of our students.
Our program is designed for children and adults with varying levels of physical, cognitive and emotional abilities. Through the special connection formed with a horse, we work to improve balance, muscle tone, posture, social well-being and self esteem.
“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”
~ Winston Churchill
Volunteers are an integral part of our weekly lesson program. They become part of the lesson by supporting activities for the rider as set forth by the instructor. Two primary roles are horse leader and side walker. Horse leader’s role is to prepare and handle the horse during the lesson, while the side walker’s role is to assist the rider so that they may achieve the maximum benefit of the lesson. A short training session is necessary before becoming an active volunteer in the lesson program.
In closing, we appreciate your consideration of our program and look forward to cultivating an on-going relationship. Please contact us so an introduction to our center, staff and horses can be scheduled.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Head Instructor/Program Director
